The History behind Galtier Plaza and The Airye Condominiums~!
Described in more recent years as having erratic success! The Galtier Plaza development has seen massive changes in it’s mere 25 years (or so) of existence. When developers tried to decide how to revitalize block 40 of St. Paul’s historical warehouse district it came at no easy task. An area that has so many design challenges for an architect both legally and historically it took dozens of different plans before the building ever began construction. While under construction the Galtier Plaza continued to make changes to its original design due to the changing environment and economical times! One design element that remained the same sense day one was the addition of a new YMCA fitness center at the base of the Galtier Plaza. Beyond this many office spaces, stores, and restaurants have come and gone.
In 1986 Galtier Plaza officially opened but with many elements still incomplete and with financial troubles on the horizon it took a number of additional years to complete the project including the Airye Condominiums.
In addition to 21 floors of top end Saint Paul Condo Real Estate, the Galtier Plaza also holds space to Galtier Towers Apartments, 217,992 rent-able square feet of office space and executive suites.
One other more recent change that was announced in the summer of 2009 was the naming rights to Galtier Plaza. It was purchased by one of the “anchor” rental tenants of the building, Cray Supercomputer giving way to the new name Cray Plaza.
