Back in 1967, locals sparked the idea to have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Put together in just two months, the first parade was a roaring success and the tradition has kept on for nearly half a century! Who is St. Patrick, you ask? He was a Patron Saint of Ireland whom brought Christianity to Ireland back in the 5th century. He had a tough upbringing, during which he was kidnapped and enslaved for many years. Despite his hardships, he kept his faith and wanted to spread it. In his adult years, St Patrick spread the gospel and used a three-leafed symbol to signify the Trinity. This symbol was the shamrock which represented God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. March 17th marks the anniversary of when St. Patrick died and every year we celebrate in his memory.

The 46th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on March 17th, beginning at noon! Click here for more events in St Paul on St Patrick’s Day.

Because of construction on 4th street, the parade will be on 5th street this year. Here is a map of the parade route.
