After polling my Twitter followers about their favorite attractions in St. Paul, this is the fabulous list we ended up with:

The Science Museum
Most likely if you are a resident of MN, you have been to the Science Museum at one point or another. Many of us took numerous field trips there throughout our childhood. No matter how many times you’ve been there, this place never seems to get old. The exhibits are always interesting and very hands on. If you have the opportunity, you’ll want to make sure to watch a movie at the Omni-Theater. Overall, the museum is a great place for all ages and that is why it has been voted the number one attraction in St. Paul by my Twitter followers!

The Cathedral
This architectural gem is exquisite! It was modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica, in Rome, Italy. It is so massive and tall that the top of it is actually the highest reaching point in St. Paul, even higher than the St. Paul Capitol building. Once inside, the details will leave you awe struck. The stained glass and structural design overall is truly amazing. Be sure to step inside this treasure if you have the opportunity. Lucky residents of Irvine Park Towers and Galtier Towers (Airye) can see the Cathedral from their home.

The State Capitol
Why not? It’s the Capitol building! This is a very beautiful structure, inside and out. Tours are offered if you are interested, otherwise you look around on your own. However, the tour is educational and worthwhile. The history is rich and the architecture is stunning. The view from the top makes it all worthwhile. The best part about this attraction is that it’s free to visit! Stop by, you won’t be disappointed. Gallery Tower residents live especially close to the Capitol.

Grand Avenue
Grand Ave is a great place in spend an afternoon walking around at, so it’s no wonder why it’s number four on this list. You can grab a bite to eat at one of the MANY delicious restaurants (Dixie’s, Travern on Grand), get in some retail therapy (Pottery Barn, Bibelot), or grab a drink with a pal (Billy’s, Wild Onion). There is virtually everything you need on this stretch, even wedding shops – including THE Wedding Shoppe! Your will find great cafes, unique shops and truly, something for everyone on Grand Ave.

Rice Park
Located in Downtown St. Paul, this city owned park is located in the heart of the action. It is surrounded by the Ordway, The Landmark Center, The St. Paul Hotel, the Xcel Energy Center and much more. Take a walk inside the park, forget you’re in a thriving city and lose yourself in a book or enjoy a picnic with the family. Even in the coldest months of the year, this park sees thousands of visitors as it is home to the St. Paul Winter Carnival. It’s definitely worth visiting. Fitzgerald Condos, Mississippi Flats and City Walk Condos are just a few of the condos all within a half a mile of the park.

There are so many great things to do in St. Paul that I think a top-favorites list, 6-10 blog post will be written in the near future! If you have a place in mind that you think makes the cut, be sure to let me know!
